Shekarabi says in an interview with the newspaper that he is calling for more cooperation between the Social Democrats and the Moderates, who have long been the dominant parties in Swedish politics.

"Even in a joint government. It is a troubled world and we need to focus on what is in Sweden's interests. Then I think that taking responsibility from the two parties that have traditionally held the post of prime minister would be good for the country," Shekarabi says.

One of the Green Party's spokespersons, Daniel Helldén, said on Saturday that the party is prepared to bring down Social Democrat leader Magdalena Andersson if the Green Party is not allowed to be in the government in the event of a possible victory for the red-greens this fall.

Minister of Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa (M) wrote on X that "the Social Democrats are trying to escape from their partner parties, where one is worse than the other," and that if the Moderates were to "wait for the Social Democrats on nuclear power, migration and gang crime, we wouldn't even get half as much done."
