That tax evasion is prevalent among meal providers has been established by the Tax Agency in previous investigations. However, tax evasion is also widespread among restaurants that deliver food, a new study from the Tax Agency reveals.

"In the companies that were audited, we found very large deficiencies in accounting. In some cases, accounting was missing entirely for certain periods. There were also extensive unreported revenues and salaries, and even in some cases unreported salary contributions, private expenses, and incorrect invoices", says Roger Leander, control coordinator at the Tax Agency, in a press release.

The authority has reported 30 restaurants to the police and imposed taxes and fees of 23 million kronor based on the 66 restaurants that were controlled.

"The control shows that errors and fraud occur among all types of actors in the food delivery industry", says Roger Leander.
