The postage rate will increase significantly at the turn of the year. Then it will cost 22 kronor to send a domestic letter weighing up to 50 grams. And that is an increase of 4 kronor, according to Postnord.

The reason for the significant increase is that fewer and fewer letters are being sent in Sweden, according to Henrik Ishihara, press spokesperson at Postnord.

What is happening is that the revenue from postage is decreasing drastically and we have a high proportion of fixed costs. Since we do not receive any state support for the postal service, the only remaining solution for us is to raise the postage rate, he says to Sveriges Radio Ekot.

The postage rate for sending a letter weighing up to 50 grams abroad will increase by 8 kronor to 44 kronor.
