Just in time for the upcoming 25th anniversary next summer, the Öresundsbron has set a new record. In 2024, 7.5 million vehicles have passed the bridge, thereby surpassing the previous record from 2017.
"Above all, leisure traffic and trucks have increased significantly since 2017. And during the past year, it is primarily commuter traffic that has contributed most clearly," says the bridge's CEO Linus Eriksson in a press release.
Car traffic over the bridge increased by 12.7 percent during the year compared to 2023. Even Danish leisure traffic over the Öresundsbron has set a record, after increasing over several years, which can partly be explained by the weakened Swedish krona.
