A record high of 20 degrees has been measured on the main island of Spetsbergen in Svalbard, reports the Meteorological Institute via X.
This is the first time such a high temperature has been registered at Svalbard's airport, located slightly northeast of the town of Longyearbyen.
"Today's satellite image shows a cold front approaching from the west. The temperature will remain high until it arrives this afternoon. Maybe it will be 20 degrees today too?", writes the institute on Monday morning.
