North Macedonia's former Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska gets the top job as the second-highest chief in NATO, under Secretary-General Mark Rutte.
"She truly believes in NATO, knows what it takes to join the alliance and what it means to become a full member. I look forward to working with her", says Rutte in a press release.
The 52-year-old Shekerinska, who was also her country's Prime Minister for a short period in 2004, takes up her post later this year. North Macedonia became a full member of NATO in 2020.
