Longest sentence, nine years, is given to a 24-year-old man who, according to a unanimous court, was involved in the crime from start to finish. The other six people – including two women – are sentenced to between one and seven years in prison. Two of them will be deported for life after serving their sentence.

The businessman's son received demands for 15 million kronor in ransom. However, no money was paid when the boy was released after almost five days. He had then been both threatened with death and physically injured.

One of the convicted was arrested before release, and the others afterwards.

The convicted will also have to pay large sums in damages to the boy and his family.
