Canadian Couche-Tard is making a new attempt to acquire Japanese Seven & I Holdings, owner of, among other things, 7-Eleven stores.
The company has now raised its previous bid of 40 billion dollars to over 47 billion dollars and is said to have notified the Japanese company's board of directors three weeks ago.
Seven & I Holdings has, however, shown great reluctance towards an acquisition, having applied for and received a special status that will make it more difficult for foreign companies to take over the company.
