The lawyer for the younger of the two girls suspected of murdering a girl in Landskrona is leaving her role as defender, reports Expressen.

According to the newspaper, lawyer Cecilia Johnsson is leaving her assignment due to conflict of interest. She is said to have represented the murdered girl's counterpart a few years earlier.

Due to confidentiality, Cecilia Johnsson declines to comment on the conflict of interest situation.

"As a lawyer, I continuously monitor conflict of interest and take immediate action if this arises. I was released from my assignment as legal assistant yesterday morning according to the district court's decision", she writes in a comment to the newspaper.

A lawyer may not, according to good legal ethics, accept an assignment if there is a conflict of interest or a significant risk of it. If a lawyer has previously represented another party in the case, there is a conflict of interest.
