On Monday, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party) is to have an informal dinner with the EU's other heads of state and government in Brussels.

Then, the top jobs within the EU will be discussed, including the roles of the Commission President and the EU's Foreign Policy Chief.

Ulf Kristersson has not made a secret of the fact that he personally wants Ursula von der Leyen to continue as President of the Commission.

You don't have to be a Christian Democrat to like her, he says in connection with the EU Committee on Friday.

Aside from that, Ulf Kristersson does not want to mention any names before Monday. On the other hand, he hopes that the process will move quickly and says that the conditions for it are good, although there are "no guarantees".

That we do not have a long period with a leaderless EU is important for obvious reasons. Not least because of Ukraine, but also for the processes we are in with climate and migration.
