The proposal is presented in the partial report from the inquiry into improved student health, which was submitted to Education Minister Lotta Edholm (L) on Thursday. The national test for special school year 4 is also proposed to be abolished, according to the partial report.
Instead, standardized tests are proposed to be introduced to determine whether students are not keeping up with the education.
These should be tests that are developed to test reading, writing, and mathematics development. We have chosen exactly this because we know that if you cannot read and write or cannot follow mathematics development, you cannot follow education in other subjects, says Åsa Lundkvist at a press conference.
The tests will be conducted in all years of elementary school, as well as in year 4 and 7, to identify whether students have support needs when starting middle or high school.
These proposals are a very important part of our work to improve the school's conditions and opportunities to provide relevant and early support, says Education Minister Lotta Edholm.
