A homeless man in Amsterdam found a wallet containing nearly 2,000 euros, equivalent to around 22,000 kronor, and handed it over to the police.
The 33-year-old man found the wallet on an empty train when he was "doing his rounds" to look for cans to recycle. The wallet contained no documents that could identify the owner.
"As we believe that honesty should be rewarded, he received a prize that we occasionally give to citizens, and a gift voucher worth 50 euros," the police announced.
If no one comes forward to claim the money, it will go to the finder.
Perhaps the owner has a business and can give me a job, perhaps a building I can live in. You never know what might happen, the man told the newspaper De Stentor.
