Jesse Eisenberg, 42, surprised the hosts of the American morning show with his revelation.
I'm actually going to donate my kidney in six weeks. For real.
Eisenberg, who is known from films such as "The Social Network" and "A Real Pain", has previously been a blood donor.
"I was inspired by this blood donation thing and will make an altruistic donation in mid-December. It will be exciting," he says in the interview.
Normally, a relative steps in as a donor if a relative needs a new kidney. In Sweden, it is very unusual for people to offer their kidney to strangers. But Jesse Eisenberg sees it as a good deed and hopes that more people will do the same.
Let's say a person in Kansas City, for example, doesn't match their children or whoever would be a donor, but I do. Then that person can get my kidney and hopefully that child will still donate their kidney, right?
