Higher costs and negative consequences of the Olympic Games in Paris led to a decline in SAS owner Air France-KLM's results during the third quarter, according to a report published by the company on Thursday.

During the quarter, the airline earned 824 million euros, equivalent to approximately 9.5 billion Swedish kronor – which is 13 percent less than during the corresponding quarter in 2023.

The company was negatively affected by the Olympic Games, as tourists increasingly avoided the French capital before and during the Games.

French politicians are also considering introducing a tax on air travel, which will affect the group's operating result.

Air France-KLM owns 19.9 percent of SAS.
