The reports of dead Hezbollah activists and over 160 attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon come from the Israeli military and are reported by the newspaper Haaretz. The military claims to have found dozens of weapons, including automatic weapons of the type AK 47 and rockets, in a house in the south.
Several of Hezbollah's facilities for storing and manufacturing weapons have been hit in attacks in al-Dahiya in southern Beirut during the night, according to the Israeli military. According to Lebanese media, six buildings have been leveled to the ground in at least 17 Israeli attacks during the night. According to Israel, the locations were Hezbollah targets "under and inside civilian buildings in the heart of populated areas".
State media also report on an Israeli drone attack on a car on a highway between Beirut and the Bekaa Valley. Two people are reported to have been killed in the attack.
"Heavy clashes"
Hezbollah claims that its soldiers have participated in "heavy clashes" at close range with the Israeli military in a border town in southern Lebanon on Thursday.
According to the Shia militia, an attack has been directed against an Israeli "defense industry base" north of Haifa in Israel with a "salvo of rockets" for the second time in 24 hours. Furthermore, it is claimed that the city of Safed has been bombed with a large "rocket salvo".
Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati says on Thursday that only the state and the Lebanese military should bear arms. He did not, however, explicitly call for the disarmament of Hezbollah.
Lebanese military personnel killed
Three Lebanese soldiers have been killed during a rescue operation, announces the country's army.
"The Israeli enemy attacked personnel from the Lebanese army in areas around the village of Yater and in Bint Jbeil in the south during an operation to evacuate the wounded", it says in a statement from the military.
Also over the weekend, three soldiers were killed in an Israeli attack which, according to Lebanon, was directed against them. The attack was directed against vehicles belonging to Lebanese soldiers in the country's southern parts, where Israel claims to be striking against the Iran-allied Shia militia Hezbollah's strongholds.
In total, eleven Lebanese soldiers have thus been killed since the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalated last month.
Unifil, the UN's peacekeeping force in Lebanon, has accused Israel of having directed attacks against its forces several times in recent weeks.
