Qaani, the highest commander of the powerful Revolutionary Guard's special unit Quds, has been rumored in recent weeks to have been killed in Lebanon, arrested on suspicion of espionage, or hospitalized after a heart attack.

On Tuesday's TV footage, he is seen attending the funeral of Abbas Niloforoshan, a high-ranking general within the Revolutionary Guard, who was killed in one of Israel's attacks on Lebanon on the same day as Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed. The funeral is being held in Tehran, Iran's capital.

The Quds force is responsible for the Revolutionary Guard's operations abroad. Its mission consists mainly of organizing, and sometimes even leading, local forces abroad in activities that benefit the Islamic Republic of Iran.
