The number of air passengers is expected to set a new record in 2024. The world's airlines are expected to transport nearly five billion passengers this year and thus break the pre-pandemic record, according to the transport organization Iata.

Airlines' combined profits after tax are expected to rise to $30 billion in the US in the year, compared to the previous estimate of $25.7 billion.
