Systembolaget's profit before tax was halved during the second quarter compared to the same period last year. The profit amounted to 59 million kronor while sales increased slightly to 10.5 billion kronor.
The increased sales are linked to the fact that Easter sales took place in April this year and March last year. "Except for the Easter effect, sales volumes decrease", Systembolaget writes in the report.
The decreased profit, in turn, is due, apart from the underlying decreased sales volume, also to increased salary and development costs, according to Systembolaget's CEO Ann Carlsson.
"The world economy is still unpredictable. Moreover, the economic upturn seems to be delayed and we note that more customers at Systembolaget choose cheaper products", she writes in the interim report.
