Junibacken’s puppet show is playing this week inside “Midwinter in Moominvalley”, an exhibition on the ground floor. Performed in Swedish, the production is based on Tove Jansson’s 1952 picture book about Moomintroll, Mumble and Little My. In the story, Moomintroll is on his way home to his mother, Little My has gone missing, and the Hemulen, thinking it is Christmas, sucks up whatever comes near in a vacuum cleaner. The audience spreads out over a snow-covered ridge in the exhibition as the story unfolds. The show is for children from age three and adults who can follow the performance in Swedish. It premiered at Junibacken in 2015, during celebrations for the Moomin character’s 70th anniversary, and is now staged in a new setting. A separate theatre ticket is required, along with an admission ticket or annual pass.
