Ängsö National Park is an island in Roslagen, and you can reach it only by boat. Marked paths run through meadows and woodland and around the island. The park has a rest area, a rest hut and a small exhibition about the island’s nature and history near Hemudden, close to the steamboat pier.

In November, plan your own boat or kayak trip, or arrange a water taxi. Regular boat trips from Stockholm or Furusund run in spring and summer. There is no food service or overnight accommodation on the island, so bring food, drinks and drinking water. Camping is allowed at the designated site at Norrviken for up to two nights.

The meadows usually flower most from about mid-May to mid-June. The county administrative board says it will not run regular guided tours in 2026, and will share information about the 2027 season in spring. Group tours can be booked by contacting the park’s nature warden; groups of up to 25 pay 1,500 SEK (about US$150), by Swish.

Restoration work on old meadows and grazing land is under way and will continue for several years, so some areas may look disturbed. Much of the island’s eastern side is a bird-protection area closed to visitors from 1 February to 15 August. The island is flat, with narrow boardwalks across wet ground. When the ground is dry in summer, some paths can take strollers with wide tyres. Wheelchair users should go ashore at Hemudden, where they can travel a short way inland; not all boats can carry wheelchairs.
