Möbeldesignmuseum, which its website calls Museum of Furniture Studies, is being developed in Älmhult, Sweden, and is scheduled to open in February 2027. It is not open to visitors this week. The project is planned as a museum about the history of furniture design, the contemporary design scene and future designers.

Its planned open collection is intended to make furniture design accessible for learning and new perspectives. Students, emerging designers and the wider design community will be able to meet, connect and exchange ideas there. The museum says those conversations will cover design heritage, furniture design today and where it may go next.

The museum presents the project as a place for anyone curious about furniture design, with the collection at its centre and a platform for future designers alongside it. It is still taking shape, so there is no visit to make in Älmhult this week. The website says a new site will launch before the museum opens. February 2027 is the announced opening date.
