At Kosta Glascenter, visitors can try glassblowing under the guidance of a master glassblower. The work involves blowing and shaping a glowing, syrup-like mass of glass into an object. Visitors do the blowing themselves, with expert guidance, and learn about glass as a material as they work. The task is difficult: the glass has to be shaped before it cools. A finished piece needs a few hours to cool, and can be taken home after that. It is not ready to take away immediately when the blowing session ends. The master glassblower guides the attempt while visitors blow into the glass and work to shape it.

Kosta Glascenter is inside the grounds of Kosta Glasbruk, which dates to 1742 and is described as the oldest glassworks in the Glass Kingdom. Kosta Boda and Orrefors glass are made there by hand. Visitors can go into the glassworks, visit Kosta Boda Art Gallery, and buy glass at outlet prices.
