Storön Nature Reserve covers most of Storön, an island in Lake Storsjön southeast of Bergsjö. Its 50 hectares include managed hay meadows, grazed woodland and spruce forest with an old-growth feel. The reserve's main natural values are its flora, woodland and managed meadow. It also contains archaeological remains from the Iron Age.
Visitors can swim, paddle a canoe or take a dip at Högen bathing site. On the island's northern side and southwestern point, spruce forest includes aspen, birch and willow. The central woodland is more open, reflecting cattle grazing and later sheep grazing during parts of the 20th century. At Surängsviken on the western side, an open meadow is kept clear by annual mowing. Its flowering plants include backnejlika, gökärt, ängsklocka and rödklint. Iron Age house foundations are near the meadow.
The island has varied birdlife. Large and deciduous trees provide habitat for birds of prey and hole-nesting birds, including woodpeckers.
