rösträtt

right to vote

Who may vote depends on the election. You must be 18 on election day in all of them. Only Swedish citizens who are or have been registered in Sweden vote in the Riksdag election.

In the regional and municipal elections, Swedish citizens and citizens of other EU countries, Iceland and Norway can vote if they are registered in the municipality and region. Citizens of other countries, and stateless people, can vote there too if they have been registered in Sweden for at least three years in a row before election day.

In the European Parliament election, citizens of other EU countries registered in Sweden must sign up for the Swedish electoral roll in time.
