The number of cars sold globally in March–May this year fell to 178,980, compared with 189,440 a year earlier, according to Volvo Cars.

However, there was some improvement compared to the three-month period February–April, according to the company.

The share of fully electric cars accounted for 23 percent during March–May this year, while plug-in hybrid models accounted for 25 percent.

Volvo Cars still faces headwinds in the Chinese car market, with fierce competition and challenging economic conditions.

In the US, Volvo Cars sees signs of recovery for both the car market and the company. However, the market continues to be affected by weak consumer confidence and weak demand for electric and hybrid models.
