Volvo Cars sales fall 4% as China slows, Europe stays stable

Sales in the US increased and deliveries in Europe were stable, but China is slowing down.

"However, the company's sales results for the period were significantly affected by the downturn in the Chinese market," the automaker writes.

Stable demand for electric cars is driving sales growth in Europe, according to Volvo.

“We have seen a sustained increase in customer orders for our fully electric cars,” says Erik Severinson, chief commercial officer at Volvo Cars.

Fully electric models or plug-in hybrids made up 53 percent of all cars sold during the period.
