The vehicle group Volkswagen is reducing volumes and introducing temporary production stops in two German factories, writes Bloomberg. The reason is an unexpectedly slow-growing demand for electric cars

The factory in Zwickau will stop production for a week starting on October 6, due to weak demand for the Audi Q4 e-tron, according to a spokesperson for the factory.

At the factory in Emden, working hours for employees have already been reduced and a production stop is also planned there for several days, according to Bloomberg's sources. The factory manufactures the Volkswagen ID4 and ID7.

Both factories manufacture only electric cars.

Although Volkswagen is benefiting from the growing electric car sales in Europe, the total growth in the region is slower and more uneven than expected.
