The Riksdag has elected Moderate Andreas Norlén as Speaker for another term. He received the support of the Tidö parties M, KD, L and SD as well as V.
This has led Social Democrats leader Magdalena Andersson to accuse V of collaborating with M and to return her exploratory mission to form a new government to the Speaker.
This means that she is giving up attempts to form a government for the time being.
"It feels a bit hasty," says Left Party deputy leader Ida Gabrielsson on her way into the Riksdag chamber.
This issue of forming a government is not related to the presidential election.
Andersson V's candidate
Gabrielsson believes that sometimes it's good to have a little "tough love" and emphasizes that Magdalena Andersson is V's only prime ministerial candidate.
We will never vote for any other prime ministerial candidate than her.
V leader Nooshi Dadgostar hopes that the red-green parties will now be able to form a government, including V.
We look forward with confidence and believe that Magdalena Andersson will also gather the red-green team now, where Left Party voters will also have the opportunity and right to sit at the table if they are to support such a government, says Dadgostar.
Green Party spokesman Daniel Helldén reacts with disappointment to V's choice to vote for the Moderate Party's candidate for speaker. Regarding Andersson's announcement, he says:
I am not surprised now that the Left Party is siding with the Moderates.
M: Shows weakness
At the same time, reactions from the Tidö parties are pouring in. SD party leader Jimmie Åkesson believes that Andersson's actions were expected.
"We have known for a long time that she will not be able to put together her government documents. Today's announcement should therefore not come as a shock to anyone," he says in a written comment.
M's group leader Mattias Karlsson criticizes the S leader.
She is showing weakness. She just had a cake party and celebrated her election victory a few days ago and said for four years that she would be able to assemble her team after the election. Now we are here.
KD leader Ebba Busch writes that her party is ready to take responsibility.
"There is a majority in the Riksdag for bourgeois economic policy, that majority would serve Sweden well."
