The two have previously had a strained relationship and Facebook was one of the platforms that banned Trump following the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg – who also owns Instagram and Whatsapp – announced that the 40-year-old was "grateful for the invitation to have dinner together with President Trump and the incoming administration". The dinner took place at Trump's residence in Florida the same day.
What the two talked about is not clear. However, it is clear that Stephen Miller, Trump's future deputy chief of staff, spoke about the tech billionaire in positive terms in an interview with Fox on Wednesday evening.
He (Zuckerberg) has made it clear that he wants to support America's national renewal under President Trump's leadership, said Miller.
During Trump's first term, many top figures in the tech world were cautious. After the election victory earlier in November, the tone was significantly more welcoming, and Zuckerberg was one of those who congratulated the 78-year-old on his victory.
