A way would be to invest in a fourth Global Eye that can strengthen the surveillance of our region – from the southern shores of the Baltic Sea to the Arctic Circle, including Greenland, says the S leader at the Folk and Defense National Conference in Sälen.

The proposal is presented against the backdrop of the recent cable breaks, the increased underwater activity, and the Russian shadow fleet's actions in the Baltic Sea.

The S believes that efforts in the Baltic Sea area should increase and be coordinated. A joint Global Eye would be an important addition, says Andersson.

We Social Democrats believe that the government should immediately initiate negotiations with the other Nordic countries on this.

Global Eye is a reconnaissance and command aircraft developed by Saab. It has the capability to monitor in the air, at sea, and on land simultaneously, and can, for example, detect and identify objects at long distances.

When we in the Nordic countries stick together, we become stronger. It increases our opportunities to defend our sovereignty and our territorial integrity, says Andersson.

According to the Minister of Defense's press secretary, a dialogue is already underway about a fourth Global Eye plane between the government and, for example, Denmark.
