The sale of Princess Märtha Louise's gin is being stopped because it is suspected of violating the alcohol advertising ban in Norway.

It is also considered to be in conflict with the Norwegian royal court's guidelines on not using their title in commercial contexts, reports NRK.

The Norwegian Directorate of Health (similar to the National Board of Health and Welfare) has also opened a supervision case in connection with the launch of the gin, which was produced on the occasion of Princess Märtha Louise's and shaman and businessman Durek Verrett's wedding, writes NRK.

The Directorate states that it has received a notification about the case from the organization Av-og-til, which works against alcohol abuse.

"We will send a request to the manufacturer OHD during the day for more clarity in the case, a better overview of the actual circumstances and what has happened. This case is being treated in the same way as all other notifications that the Norwegian Directorate of Health receives", says department director Linda Granlund in a press release.
