Minister of Finance Elisabeth Svantesson (M) has been elected as chair of the World Bank's and International Monetary Fund's (IMF) development committee.
The development committee is the World Bank's and IMF's highest advisory body in development issues. It is the first time a Swede leads the committee, writes the government in a press release.
"It is a great honor to be elected as chair of the development committee, which is an important forum for international economic cooperation", comments Svantesson.
Svantesson will hold the position for two years.
