Volkswagen (VW) controls publicly traded Traton, which in turn owns the truck companies Scania, MAN and Volkswagen's truck operations.

But Veronica Nilsson, press officer at Scania, cannot say whether the savings package at Volkswagen also affects Scania.

"It is completely impossible for us to answer. These are decisions made within Volkswagen, and whether this affects us in the long term we cannot comment," she says.

Shares in Scania owner Traton, which is due to present its quarterly report on July 23, rose 1.2 percent in Friday's trading and are up 15 percent since the turn of the year.
