As a direct consequence of Scania purchasing a small part of Northvolt in April 2025, the company is now launching a new organization. The new organization will operate under the name Scania industrial batteries and have its headquarters in Sweden.

"By combining the newly acquired company's speed and flexibility with Scania's deep engineering expertise and extensive global presence, we are well positioned to accelerate electrification in the toughest off-road environments", says Gustaf Sundell, Head of Ventures and New Business at Scania in a press release.

Northvolt Systems' industrial division was a small part of Northvolt. When Scania purchased the business in April, it had 260 employees in Stockholm and Gdansk. The purchase price was not disclosed.
