Record year ended down for Volvo Cars

The car manufacturer Volvo Cars' sales in December last year fell to 73,804 cars, a decrease of 3 percent compared to December a year earlier.

Despite the decline, Volvo Cars notes a new global sales record, with 763,389 cars sold during the full year 2024, an increase of 8 percent compared to the previous year.

Electric car sales increased by 15 percent to 14,130 in December and by 54 percent to 175,195 during the entire 2024.

The sales increase mainly took place in Europe during the past year, with an increase of 25 percent to 369,685 sold cars in the region. In China, it was down by 8 percent to 156,370, while US sales fell by 3 percent to 125,243 cars.

The Volvo Cars share rises by 1.3 percent on the Stockholm Stock Exchange after the annual figures.
