Ulf Kristersson, Prime minister of Sweden
Ulf on Trump's victory Ulf Kristersson has congratulated Donald Trump. To SVT, Kristersson says:
It is important for Sweden to be able to cooperate with the president and the administration that takes office.
Having said that, I also want to say that there are a few worrying trends in American politics right now that I think are important to mention. The hard and polarizing tone in the debate, the tendency for cultural wars to dominate political issues. This is a dangerous development, I think.
Further on the Prime Minister's official X account:
I congratulate @realDonaldTrump on being elected the next President of the United States. I look forward to working together and continuing the excellent US-Sweden relations as friends and allies.
Sweden's Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard
Maria Malmer Stenergard on Trump's win in Swedish Radio:
We need good cooperation. We will focus on working for what benefits Sweden, she says about a new administration in the US.
When Trump were president earlier.
Then the cooperation with Sweden worked well, and we will do what we can to make it work that way again.
Ebba Busch, Deputy Prime Minister (Christian Democrats)
Ebba Busch writes on X and congratulates:
The American voters have spoken. I congratulate Donald Trump on winning the US presidential election. The US remains a crucial partner for Sweden and Europe, and I look forward to a good and close cooperation with the incoming administration.
Johan Pehrsson on Trump's victory
On the X platform, Johan Pehrsson (The Liberal Party) writes:
American voters have spoken. Sweden's cooperation with the US should continue to be strong, just like during the previous Trump administration. With that said, a deeper European cooperation is needed now more than ever. Sweden needs to take a leading role to secure European security and a strong growth policy.
Fredrik Reinfeldt on election night TV4
Former Prime Minister Reinfeldt tells TV4 that Donald Trump is the world's most dangerous man.
He is even angrier now than when he won the election in 2016. He has a destructive power to threaten American democracy and further destabilize the world order that no one else on this earth has, he says.
