This election is not over until a new prime minister has been tolerated by the Swedish parliament, and until then it is not over, says the Moderates' election general Martin Borgs to TT.
If there is a non-socialist majority in the Swedish parliament, then we believe that we have a good chance of having an impact on our policies.
Borgs refers to C as a bourgeois party, even though C has Magdalena Andersson (S) as its candidate for prime minister.
According to information provided to several media outlets, incumbent Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) will not admit defeat on election night even if the red-greens become larger than the Tidö parties.
According to SVT's exit poll (Valu), which came out at 8 p.m., the red-greens have a clear lead. But in SVT's election forecast, which came out at 9:30 p.m., it is even.
C vs. V
If the figures from Valu were also to become election results, Andersson needs support from S, V, MP and C.
"We will have Magdalena Andersson as prime minister for our country," said Social Democrats party secretary Tobias Baudin when Valu was presented.
V has demanded to be allowed to sit in an S-led government in order to give its support to such a government.
"We will be four parties that need to negotiate," said deputy party chairwoman of the Left Party, Ida Gabrielsson, when Valu was presented.
However, S leader Magdalena Andersson has said during the election campaign that V has a long way to go before the party can sit in a government.
C has also said that it cannot accept a government that includes V. C hopes for a center-right government, and cannot imagine cooperating with SD.
Open for collaboration
Magdalena Andersson already said on Saturday evening that in the event of a red-green election victory, she would begin contacting other party leaders immediately after the election is over to explore the ground for cooperation.
The S leader has said during the election campaign that she is open to cooperation with all parties except SD. During the election campaign, she has mainly flattered KD leader Ebba Busch on the conservative side.
Cooperation is not just about which parties will be in an S-led government. It can also be about organized cooperation between an S-led government and a party in parliament, for example on the budget. Or cooperating with different parties on different political issues.
For Magdalena Andersson to become prime minister, she must not receive more no votes than yes votes in an upcoming prime ministerial vote in the Riksdag.
