During Crown Princess Victoria's official visit to Nigeria, she visited a school and handed over the book "Do You Know Pippi Longstocking?" to the principal. The embassy has had Astrid Lindgren's classic translated into Nigerian pidgin and the students at the school will get to read it.

The translation is taking place the same year as the beloved children's book hero celebrates its 80th anniversary.

"Do You Know Pippi Longstocking" was published in 1947 and was Rabén & Sjögren's first four-color picture book. It consists of a selection of stories that Astrid Lindgren made from the first Pippi book, with new illustrations by Ingrid Vang Nyman. The book is still one of Rabén & Sjögren's best-selling picture books.
