Thursday's World Cup victory in super-G in Italian La Thuile was Aicher's second in her career. The first came less than two weeks ago, in the downhill in Norwegian Kvitfjell.
The first podium came also in Kvitfjell the same weekend, in the same discipline.
But the victory in La Thuile was her first in super-G and also Germany's first on the women's side since March 2019, when Viktoria Rebensburg won. And already now, the season has exceeded all expectations, notes Emma Aicher.
"I had not at all expected this in the speed disciplines", says Aicher to the International Ski Federation's website.
"It's a dream that comes true, it's what I work for every day".
The successes could have been blue and yellow. Emma Aicher speaks Swedish, grew up in Sundsvall and has a Swedish mother. But a few years ago, she made the decision to compete for her father's homeland Germany, where she also lives.
I represent Germany, but I feel Swedish, said Aicher, who competes in all events, in an interview with Dagens Nyheter last week.
Otherwise, it was a double Italian podium on Thursday. Sofia Goggia became second, six hundredths behind Aicher, and Federica Brignone became third, 39 hundredths from the victory.
Also on Friday, super-G will be held in La Thuile. It is the season's second-to-last World Cup competition in the discipline.
