Registrations of new cars increased by 8.5 percent in June compared to the same month last year, up to 27,565 cars. So far this year, the total increase in new registrations is around 7 percent.

"A positive recovery for the car market", writes the industry organization Mobility Sweden in a press release.

The share of electric cars, including plug-in hybrids, is around 65 percent. Pure electric cars have a share of 39 percent of new car registrations (35 percent so far this year).

"The share of electric cars so far this year is developing slightly weaker than Mobility Sweden's forecast of 40 percent for 2025, at the same time plug-in hybrids are developing stronger than expected", writes the industry organization.

But for the American electric giant Tesla, things are still going badly. In June, sales fell by 64 percent to 976 new registrations. So far this year, the decrease is 61 percent compared to the first half of last year. The market share on the Swedish market has thus fallen from 6.9 to 2.6 percent.

Volvo's various models, including fossil-driven ones, top the list with just over 18 percent market share during the first half of the year, followed by Volkswagen with just over 14 percent of new car sales on the Swedish market.
