In line with the Swedish Central Bank's lowering of the interest rate, mortgage rates have also followed suit.

Among the larger players on the market, the largest decrease between November and December can be seen at Handelsbanken. There, the average interest rate, which is what customers actually receive after negotiations, for floating-rate mortgages was 3.52 percent. Swedbank's floating-rate interest rate also landed at 3.52 percent. For Nordea, the interest rate was lowered from 3.74 percent in November to 3.53 percent in December.

However, the lowest floating-rate interest rate among the major banks was found at SEB, where the average floating-rate interest rate was 3.32 percent in December.

The average interest rate for floating-rate loans at Danske Bank has also been lowered and was 3.28 percent in December.

The floating-rate interest rates at several smaller banks, which often offer lower interest rates, have also moved downward. At Länsförsäkringar, the three-month floating-rate interest rate went from 3.66 percent in November to 3.44 percent in December. At Skandia, the same interest rate was 3.41 percent in December.

The lowest average interest rate, among the banks included in this comparison, was found at Landshypotek Bank with 3.20 percent.

The fixed interest rates have also decreased at several banks. The average interest rate for Handelsbanken's one-year mortgages was 3.13 percent in December, down from 3.25 percent in November. For Nordea, the average interest rate fell to 3.10 percent in December, and at Skandia, it was 3.02 percent for one-year loans in December.
