More expensive gasoline for foreign cars not OK in the EU

Formal infringement procedures have been launched against the two countries over their system of charging different prices at gas stations depending on the cars' country of origin.

According to the Commission, this violates a range of fundamental EU rules, from the free movement of goods, services and workers to equal treatment and the freedom to conduct business.

The countries now have two months to respond.
