The management of the aviation giant Boeing is withdrawing its wage offer and accuses the union of being inflexible. Thus, the month-long strike in the USA with up to 33,000 employees appears to continue.
The negotiations resumed on Monday with the help of mediators but were interrupted in disagreement already on Tuesday.
"The union has demanded things that are not negotiable, far beyond what can be accepted if we want to remain competitive," the company management writes in an email to the employees.
Thus, further negotiations appear futile, at least for the time being, according to the company. The union wants compensation for what they consider a decade of small wage increases that have been eroded by inflation.
