The mentor task has grown in a way that makes teachers have to spend a lot of time on being almost a kind of coach for students' general social well-being and development, says the party's school policy spokesperson Fredrik Malm.
Teachers must be allowed to be teachers.
The proposal will be presented at the party's national meeting in November.
The idea with mentors is that since a student meets many different teachers in school, there should be a person who has a comprehensive picture of the student's development and can detect any potential support needs.
