DO is now demanding that the region pay 50,000 kronor in compensation to the woman, which P4 Stockholm first reported.

In October 2024, on an SL bus, the woman showed her Ukrainian passport, which serves as a ticket in the region. The driver then said in Russian, “This is not a passport, this is garbage,” which the woman found humiliating.

The DO assesses that this is harassment related to ethnic affiliation.

The region does not deny the statement but believes that the driver did not intend to offend and instead believed that the woman's passport was worn out. However, pictures that DO has seen show a passport in good condition.
