Simona Mohamsson (L) presented the news as a New Year's resolution to unleash the power of literature in schools again.
It should no longer be a hidden part of the Swedish subject. Literature should stand on its own two feet, said Mohamsson.
She spoke about how screens today have been allowed to crowd out books from schools and that this has contributed to a reading crisis.
Give high school students more Karin Boye, Hjalmar Söderberg, Jonas Hassen Khemiri, Lydia Sandgren. This is how we build a knowledge school that invites more people to an educational journey for the future. Which opens doors to new contexts, said Simona Mohamsson.
