Torrential rain has caused landslides and flooding this week in the Gamo region in southern Ethiopia.
Rescue operations are still underway and police have warned that the death toll could rise to well over 100.
The national mourning period is in effect for three days.
Climate change has made storms in Ethiopia increasingly violent. In the summer of 2024, torrential rains caused massive landslides in southern Ethiopia, killing at least 257 people.
