First, Ulf Kristersson made a statement at the Liberal Party's ongoing national conference in Karlstad, then he went on to Örebro where around 450 Sweden Democrats are meeting this weekend.
It is the first time a moderate party leader, and prime minister, has attended the SD's national congress. He was met with a standing ovation.
Step by step, we have together made the decisions necessary to change course for Sweden, says Kristersson.
The invitation from Jimmie Åkesson came in a digital greeting to the Moderates when they had their meeting a few weeks ago. Åkesson thinks it's good that it's now happening.
He aspires to four more years as Prime Minister and he will need our mandate for that. It is an excellent opportunity to come here and explain why he wants to continue as Prime Minister, Jimmie Åkessson tells TT ahead of the visit.
In his speech earlier on Saturday, Åkesson praised “the constructive dynamics” he experiences in the collaboration with M.
"We, together with the Moderates, will form a natural core in the next government, where we are united in conservatism and branch out towards liberalism and social patriotism," said Åkesson.
KD leader Ebba Busch sent a digital greeting to the SD's national parliament.
"We appreciate that you also focused on the substantive issues. We have come a long way, but we are not done," she said.
