"We can confirm that Mark Duchesne, CEO of Northvolt Ett, is leaving Northvolt," writes Matti Kataja in a message to TT.
Angéline J Bilodeau, operational manager for Northvolt's North American operations, will immediately take over the task of leading the factory in Skellefteå and the entire Northvolt Ett, according to Kataja.
"The position will be held until the end of the year, when Northvolt appoints a permanent CEO for Northvolt Ett," he writes.
Dagens Nyheter was the first to report on the news.
Kataja does not respond to questions about why Duchesne is leaving or on whose initiative it is happening.
Duchesne's departure from Northvolt comes after a period marked by major financial problems for the Sweden-based battery manufacturer, which in late September notified 1,600 employees of layoffs, including 1,000 in Skellefteå.
Northvolt is in a liquidity crisis and is also negotiating with lenders and major shareholders for financing. The group and its subsidiaries have large debts to both the Enforcement Authority and the Tax Authority, which must be handled to avoid bankruptcy or reconstruction.
Mark Duchesne had, according to Dagens Industri, 30 years of experience in top jobs at vehicle manufacturers such as Toyota and Tesla when he took over as factory manager for Northvolt in Skellefteå.
