A high guard at the Royal Palace in Stockholm was seriously injured when he accidentally impaled himself with his bayonet, writes Aftonbladet.
He had slipped and had incredibly bad luck in the fall, says Björn Lindul, communicator at the Defence Forces, to the newspaper.
The incident occurred at around 10 am on Saturday. The high guard's condition was life-threatening, but has now been operated on and his health status is reported to be stable.
The soldier's comrades acted very wisely and correctly and were able to help quickly, says Lindul.
The police have initiated an investigation into work environment crimes and bodily harm.
